FAQs

Welcome to our FAQ page. Here, we address some of the most commonly asked questions about hemp, CBD, and CBG to help you understand our products and the benefits they offer.

General Hemp Questions

Q: What Is the Difference Between Hemp and Marijuana? A: At Low Gravity, we understand that the distinction between hemp and marijuana can be confusing, so let us break it down for you. While both plants belong to the Cannabis family, they have unique properties and uses. Hemp, for example, contains a higher concentration of CBD, a non-psychoactive compound known for its numerous health benefits. In contrast, marijuana’s dominant cannabinoid is THC, which can cause psychoactive effects. Additionally, hemp is legally defined as having a Delta-9 THC concentration of less than 0.3%, while marijuana can have THC levels above 30%! Overall, while both hemp and marijuana share similarities, it is their differing chemical compositions and intended uses that set them apart.

Q: What is hemp? A: Hemp is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant species that is grown specifically for industrial uses. It contains low levels of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the psychoactive compound found in marijuana, making it non-intoxicating.

Q: What are the benefits of hemp? A: Hemp is used for a variety of products including textiles, biofuel, paper, and health supplements. Its seeds are a nutritious food source, and its fibers are known for their strength and durability.

Q: Is hemp legal? A: Yes, hemp is legal in many countries, including the United States, where it was legalized under the 2018 Farm Bill. However, regulations vary by state and country, so it's important to check local laws.

Q: Is Hemp Legal in My State? A: Understanding the legal status of hemp and CBD products can prove to be a complex topic, especially as each state may have its own unique laws regarding the cultivation, sale, and possession of these products. However, it is crucial to note that the 2018 Farm Bill has legalized industrial hemp at the federal level, thereby removing it from the list of controlled substances. We recommend checking out Vote Hemp for state-specific guidelines and regulations.
At Low Gravity, we strongly urge everyone to educate themselves about the laws in their respective states to ensure a safe and legal purchase of hemp and CBD products.

CBD Questions

Q: What is CBD? A: CBD, or cannabidiol, is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in hemp. It is known for its potential therapeutic benefits, such as reducing anxiety, relieving pain, and promoting overall well-being.

Q: How is CBD different from THC? A: Unlike THC, CBD does not produce a "high" or intoxicating effect. CBD is often used for its therapeutic properties without the psychoactive effects associated with THC.

Q: How can I use CBD? A: CBD can be used in various forms including oils, tinctures, capsules, edibles, topicals, and vapes. The best method depends on your personal preferences and health needs.

Q: Is CBD safe? A: CBD is generally considered safe and well-tolerated. However, it's important to consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new supplement, especially if you are taking other medications.

CBG Questions

Q: What is CBG? A: CBG, or cannabigerol, is another non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in hemp. It is often referred to as the "mother cannabinoid" because it is the precursor to other cannabinoids like CBD and THC.

Q: How is CBG different from CBD? A: While both CBD and CBG are non-psychoactive and offer potential health benefits, they interact with the body's endocannabinoid system differently. CBG is less abundant in hemp plants than CBD, making it a rarer and often more expensive cannabinoid.

Q: Can I use CBG and CBD together? A: Yes, using CBG and CBD together may provide an enhanced effect known as the entourage effect, where multiple cannabinoids work synergistically to potentially enhance their therapeutic benefits.

Purchasing and Usage

Q: How do I choose the right product for me? A: Consider your specific health needs and preferences. For example, if you need fast relief, a CBD oil or tincture might be best. For localized pain, a topical product could be more effective. Always start with a lower dose and consult with a healthcare provider if you have any questions.

Q: Are your products lab tested? A: Yes, all our products undergo rigorous third-party lab testing to ensure they meet the highest standards for potency, purity, and safety. We provide lab reports for full transparency.

Q: How should I store my hemp products? A: Store your hemp products in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat. This helps preserve their potency and extends their shelf life.

Q: Can I travel with CBD and CBG products? A: CBD and CBG products derived from hemp are legal in many places, but regulations can vary. It's important to check the laws in your travel destination before bringing these products with you.

Q: How long does it take to feel the effects of CBD or CBG? A: The onset of effects can vary depending on the method of consumption. For example, tinctures and oils can take effect within 15-45 minutes, while edibles may take 1-2 hours. Topicals may provide localized relief within minutes.

CBD vs. CBG: What’s the difference?

CBD and CBG are two entirely different cannabinoids. CBD stands for cannabidiol, while CBG stands for cannabigeriol. CBG is considered to be the mother of all cannabinoids, because it is the precursor to all. All cannabinoids start as CBG, and as the plant matures, CBG gives way to other cannabinoids like CBD, CBN, CBV, THC, etc. Though both may offer a plethora of amazing benefits, CBG presents one major difference when compared to CBD. In general, CBD interacts with your system on an “indirect” basis while CBG is believed to interact directly with the brain’s CB1 and CB2 receptors. That direct interaction is thought to be precisely where CBG exercises its unique therapeutic effects. CBG would be a great companion for studying, cleaning the house, or being the life of the party and typically has little-to-no THC in it.

What Factors Should I Consider When Buying Hemp Products?

When shopping for Hemp products, checking if the product has a Certificate of Analysis (COA) available is crucial. The COA provides detailed information about cannabinoid concentrations and confirms that the product contains less than 0.03% THC, making it compliant with federal regulations. Also, if you’re looking for specific flavors or effects, please take note of the terpene profile. Terpenes significantly contribute to hemp products’ taste, aroma, and effects.

What Are Terpenes?

Well, they’re organic hydrocarbons found in nearly all plants. They’re often referred to as the “aromatic molecules” of the plant kingdom due to their role in giving plants their distinct scent and flavor. The primary function of terpenes is to attract beneficial pollinators and repel harmful predators. However, their usefulness extends beyond just protection. Terpenes play a vital role in traditional, alternative and folk medicine. It’s fascinating to note that terpenes like Myrcene, Pinene, and Limonene have a multitude of applications and are frequently used in aromatherapy to induce relaxation, skincare products to alleviate inflammation and irritation, and dietary supplements to aid in digestion. When it comes to hemp, terpenes are a big deal, and at Low Gravity, we’re all about giving terpenes the love they deserve! These little powerhouses give your favorite strains their incredible flavors and beckoning aromas.

What Is A COA And Why Do the Products Have Them?

COA stands for Certificate of Analysis. COAs are tests generated at certified labs and can be performed on any product. Our COAs measure for potency, cannabinoid content, moisture content, and contaminants. COAs are also instrumental in showing that product falls within the legal threshold of being federally legal industrial hemp.
