Humanizing the Supply Chain
Last week, the U.S. Hemp Roundtable and the Hemp Industry and Farmers of America (HIFA) barnstormed Capitol Hill with a singular message: Predictability is the lifeblood of the farm. With less than six weeks until the 2026 planting decisions must be made, the fly-in successfully put a human face on the $28.4 billion hemp economy.
Industry leaders met with over 100 lawmakers, including key champions like Rep. James Comer (R-KY) and Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN). They aren't just fighting for "vapes"; they are fighting for the 300,000 jobs and the family farms that form the backbone of the cannabinoid supply chain.
The Momentum for H.R. 7024 and S. 3686
The primary focus of the advocacy week was securing a two-year extension of the hemp ban moratorium via the Hemp Planting Predictability Act. By pushing the 0.4mg limit back to 2028, Congress can allow the HEMP Act (Griffith-Veasey) to be perfected without destroying the agricultural foundation of the industry.
Bipartisan Unity
From seniors relying on full-spectrum CBD to veterans using hemp for recovery, the "Wellness Coalition" in D.C. is growing. Lawmakers are increasingly realizing that a "ban" is a blunt instrument that hurts the very consumers they wish to protect.
Low Gravity Hemp’s Take: We are proud to support the USHR. Advocacy is the ultimate form of brand protection. When we protect the farmer, we protect the future of every brand on the shelf.
